Why spend a lot of money on a prom dress when you can buy them for a discounted price, or even get one for free? Come in and shop for the dress you've been waiting for on March 21 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

Wanted:  Gently worn formal or prom dresses donated or sold on consignment. You may drop off your dresses to the high school main office during normal school day hours (7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday) up until 3:00 PM on the day of the event. Note the office is closed for spring break March 12 - 16.
Please be sure to write down your name, contact information, and price you are wanting to sell your dress at when dropping off the dress.

All sales will go directly to you and your money will be ready for pick-up in the office the week following the showcase. If your dress does not get sold, you will be contacted to come pick up your dress after the event and if you donated a dress for free, the High School will keep the dress to show for years to come.

CCAHS Art Club hosting their annual Elementary Art Nights for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Activities as follows:

Tuesday, March 6th: Lotus Floats Origami blossoms made with waterproof paper. Loy Krathong, the Festival of the Floating Lotus, is an annual event that is celebrated throughout Thailand, Laos, and Burma in mid-November. The Krathong is a bouyant lotus-shaped basket bearing flowers, candles, incense, and other decoration. Thousands are placed on the water and in larger cites there are parades, fireworks, and paper sky lanterns. In many cultures, the lotus flower represents new beginnings. Similar festivals in Japan and Hawaii are focused on remembering loved ones and honoring the deceased. Origami flowers that are created with a waterproof sheet of paper can be set on the water with candles and messages in a Western version of Loy Krathong. Mineral paper is created from calcium carbonate and a small amount of plastic — not trees. The paper folds and floats beautifully.

All children K-12, in the Clear Creek Amana district are welcome to participate in the Children's Maipole Dancing Group for the 2018 year. Due to complexity of some dances, younger children may help holding the pole or have other roles. There will be some dances that everyone can participate in. There is no cost, other than costume and commitment to weekly practices. We will practice on Sunday afternoons, in Homestead, for a couple hours each week. Last spring the dancers performed at the Iowa City Arts Fest, and in Amana. They have been invited to perform at Houby Days, in May, in Cedar Rapids, and possibly the Czech Fest in the fall. Please email or call for more information, 319-491-7876. .
