Dear Amana Elementary families,

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the 2021.2022 school year! This marks my 13th year as principal at Amana and my 22th year in the Clear Creek Amana district. I believe Amana to be a very special place and the entire Amana elementary staff to be an amazing collection of people. I can’t think of a better place to spend my days.

The previous two years have been a test for sure! Covid related restrictions, mediations, precautions and let us not forget, QUARANTINE were a challenge to be sure. Although there are still some unknowns, I’m confident the CCA district will continue to focus on what’s most important, and that is our students, our staff and our families, both academically and social emotionally.

This year we are excited to continue a lot of the great work we started last year, including, but not limited to, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention of Supports), Second Step (our social emotional curriculum), refining our dedication to the celebration and appreciation of READING! Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical education and of course the fine arts!

Many of you might recall I am a HUGE proponent of the arts. Amana elementary, and the entire Clear Creek Amana school district will continue our work toward meeting the individual needs of all our students. We will use a variety of data sources to make well informed educational decisions. WE CAN NOT DO IT ALONE! Education is collaborative between school and home. Take an active interest in your child’s day. Take a pause from the technology to read with your child, read to your child and simply model being a reader yourself!

We are looking forward to the start of another great year. Please feel free to reach out to me (email, text or phone). We have scheduled our back to school night on Wednesday, August 18th from 4:00 to 6:00, and I’m happy to say this will be in person (not required).
