Professional learning Communities
Clear Creek Amana is a Professional Learning Community school district. Educators focus their work around learning, rather than teaching. Teachers engage in collaborative dialogue on on three big ideas that drive the work of PLC’s, Focus on Learning, Fostering a Collaborative Culture, and Focus of Student Results.
Teams collaborate with one another to meet the specific needs of all students. The primary role of each team is to answer the four critical questions:
- What do we want all students to learn?
- How will we know if they learned it?
- What will we do if they did not learn it?
- What will we do if they already know it?
Question # 1: Teams look specifically at the course/grade level essential learnings, determine common pacing, and identify effective instructional strategies.
Question # 2: Teams collectively create common assessments around the Iowa Core.
Question # 3: Teams use common assessment data to effectively design intervention instruction around each students needs.
Question # 4: Teams identify learning beyond the classroom, enrichment, and higher order learning for students.
