Clubs & Organizations

We believe it is important for every student to feel connected to school and encourage students to explore opportunities that match their interests.  If you do not see an activity that interests you, we are always open to exploring additional opportunities.

While we make every effort to keep this list current and accurate, it may not be all-inclusive.  Some opportunities, including Newspaper, Yearbook, and Marching Band, are offered as classes during the school day but are included here because they may involve participation outside of regular school hours.  Additional information about these and other curricular offerings can be found in the CCA High School Program of Studies on our website.

Art Club

This club is available for any student interested in art experience. There are opportunities for creating personal artwork as well as projects created for school and community. Members also run a series of Elementary Art Nights, which offer younger students the opportunity to extend their creativity. Travel opportunities, both domestic and international, are made available for students to get a new look at the world around them.

Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club (CWC) is a student-led organization that provides a positive and supportive creative environment for writers. There are no formal writing assignments; all work is self-directed.  The club meets from 3:30–5:00 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Meetings include dedicated writing time, along with optional opportunities for sharing work and participating in workshop-style feedback.

Dance Team

Environmental Club

ESports

CCAHS has its own competitive gaming team. Our school competes against other Iowa High Schools in the IAHSEA. Students can compete in either Overwatch, Rocket League, or Rainbow Six: Siege. Students must try out and qualify to compete on any of the teams.  We also offer occasional “Open Days” in which non-competing members of esports can come play games.  We compete from November to February.  All participation is in-house, at no cost

Fall Play

Every fall the high school has a play. If a student is interested in the fine arts, there is usually a part for them, whether it be directing, designing, painting, or acting.  

FCCLA

FCCLA, or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, is the only youth organization with family as its central focus.  Youth are empowered to address personal, work and societal issues through individual and chapter projects. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life necessary in the home and workplace such as planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication.

Future Farmers of America (FFA) is a national youth leadership organization that focuses on making a positive difference in the lives of others through leadership opportunities, career development events and agriculture education.  Monthly meetings are held at the high school and students can participate in a wide variety of local, district and state level contests

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is a small ensemble which studies and performs jazz music at concerts and throughout the community. This band also competes in various festivals in the state. Membership is open only to current high school band members and are required to be at all rehearsals and performances.

Marching Band

Marching Band is the performance component of the High School Band curriculum that is offered during the regular school day.  Students enrolled in High School Band participate in rehearsals, football games, parades, competitions, and other performances throughout the fall season as part of the curricular band program.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) recognizes and supports students who demonstrate excellence in the visual arts, scholarship, character, and service. Members have opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in community service projects, showcase their artwork, and earn national recognition. NAHS also helps students prepare for college and careers through scholarships, exhibitions, and connections with professional artists and educators. Through these experiences, students promote the value of art education within the school and community.

National Honor Society

NHS Calendar

Students interested in joining the National Honor Society (NHS) must meet the minimum qualifying grade point average and participate in a selection process that evaluates the four NHS pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  Once selected, members are expected to fulfill the organization's community service requirements to maintain membership

Newspaper

Newspaper is a course offered during the regular school day in which students research, write, edit, and publish news stories, feature articles, and multimedia content that keeps the school community informed.  It is included in this section because students often spend additional time outside the school day covering events and meeting publication deadlines.

PLUS

People Learning Unconditional Support (PLUS) Club provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where CCA students can express themselves, build meaningful connections, and find a sense of community.  The club is designed to support students who identify as LGBTQ+ while also welcoming allies who are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful school environment. This group meets every Wednesday after school in the library

Robotics

CCA Robotics is the district’s First Tech Challenge Robotics team. It is open to 7th through 12th grade students. Students compete in outreach, design, and programming to interact with the community, design a robot that can complete that season's challenge, and then program the robot so that it can be operated autonomously and by controller. 

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a team competition where students compete in 'events' pertaining to various scientific disciplines. Some events require building/engineering skills for developing model bridges and airplanes. Others who are strong in content areas like anatomy, astronomy, or geology show off their knowledge on lab practical exams. Any science-minded students are welcome to be a part of the team!

Skills USA

SkillsUSA is a national student organization that empowers students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. Through hands-on experiences, leadership development, and career and technical education competitions, students strengthen both their technical and workplace skills. Members have opportunities to participate in service projects, network with industry professionals, and explore future career pathways. SkillsUSA helps students build confidence, professionalism, and the skills needed for success in college, careers, and life.

Show Choir

Show Choir is a mixed vocal ensemble that combines singing and choreography to perform a variety of musical styles.  The group performs at state contests, show choir competitions, and community events throughout the year.  Membership is open to students enrolled in the vocal music program, with auditions held annually.  Students interested in participating as members of the show band or stage crew are welcome and are not required to audition for or be members of the show choir

Speech

Speech is a competitive extracurricular activity offered in two seasons: Large Group and Individual.  Students interested in drama, public speaking, or developing stronger communication skills in a supportive and engaging environment are encouraged to participate.

Spring Musical

A musical is performed every Spring at Clear Creek Amana. There are several areas needed in a musical.  From actors, pit band, stage crew, lights, sound, costumes and promotions, it takes a large team to create a great production.

Student Assistance Team / INTERACT

SAT/Interact is open to all students and partners with the local Rotary chapter. The group shares Rotary’s mission of providing service to others, promoting integrity, and advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship with business, professional, and community leaders. Students participate in service projects and activities that positively impact the school and broader community.

Student Council

Student Council is an opportunity for students to become actively involved in school leadership while also serving the school and community.  This group helps coordinate events such as Homecoming, the Sponsor A Family program during the holiday season, mental health initiatives, and other service and school activities throughout the year.

Winter Color Guard & Drumline

Color Guard and Drumline are extracurricular ensembles that enhance the overall marching band program by providing students with additional opportunities to develop their visual and percussion performance skills outside of the curricular band program.

Yearbook

Yearbook is a course offered during the regular school day in which students collaborate to design, develop, and publish the school yearbook.  Although this course meets during the school day, students often spend additional time outside of class attending events and taking photographs to ensure comprehensive coverage of the school year.
