Students in AP Classroom post panel

Clear Creek Amana High School students in Miss Wilford’s AP Calculus class recently turned an abstract math concept into a hands-on learning experience during a lesson on slope fields.

Throughout the class period, students worked collaboratively to sketch slope fields, debate possible solutions, and visualize how differential equations behave over time. The room buzzed with discussion as students analyzed patterns, compared approaches, and helped one another make sense of complex calculus concepts.

Lessons like this demonstrate the kind of deep engagement that Advanced Placement (AP) courses are designed to foster. AP classes challenge students with college-level material while developing the critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed for success after high school.

Clear Creek Amana students continue to demonstrate strong performance in the AP program. Scores on the AP Calculus AB exam consistently rank higher than both the state and global averages—reflecting the dedication of students and the high-quality instruction taking place in the classroom.

Opportunities like AP Calculus are part of Clear Creek Amana’s commitment to providing rigorous academic pathways that prepare students for college and future careers. By tackling challenging material in a supportive environment, students gain both confidence and the skills needed to succeed at the next level.
