Retiree Spotlight: Jeff Villhauer

After 25 years of dedicated service as a 2nd grade teacher, we’re celebrating Jeff Villhauer and the impact he’s made at Clear Creek Amana Community School District.

Favorite memory at CCA:

For years as part of our winter party my class played a version of the "Who Am I" game where an adult would tape the name of a person or character on the students' backs so the students couldn't see it.  Then the students would ask each other yes or no questions to try to figure out who they were.  The students would be laughing so hard!  They absolutely loved it!  It was particularly special for me the times when my adult daughter, my son, and his future wife were able to help tape names on the students' backs.

On a similar note, my wife was able to volunteer and help with the after school Chess Club this year.  It was great to have her meet so many students and see them in action.

What they'll miss most:

It sounds very cliché, but I will miss the daily interactions with my second grade teammates as well as all the wonderful people, adults and students, at school.  Every day students say or do something to make me laugh and smile.  Listening to Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Ketelsen, and Mrs. DeVries at lunch and to hear them recap their day has been my version of must watch TV.

What they're looking forward to in retirement:

I'm looking forward to never again doing a carousel walk during a PD meeting.  I'm looking forward to more bike rides, more reading, more podcasts, more family games, more Hawkeye and Cub games, more travel, and making more great memories with family and friends.
