Clear Creek Amana FFA members placed first at Agriscience Fair.
On March 27th 2025 Clear Creek Amana FFA members Sophomore Carley Nash and Junior Taylor Vittetoe competed at the State science and Technology fair in Ames Iowa. In the contest members researched an Agriculture related topic in the social systems category. This was the first time in Clear Creek Amana FFA history that members competed in this event! They represented CCA FFA well!
Carley and Taylor created a thorough lab report on Proposition 12 Effects on Iowa Producers and Consumers. Along with their lab report members created a poster educating others on pork production, specifically Proposition 12 and how it regulates the amount of space a sow must be given and the impacts that has on the number of sows a producer can have thus the amount of pig produced annually. Carley and Taylor presented their findings to a panel of judges who read their lab report and poster and judged both of them based on a rubric. Members explained how pork producers were noticing a decline in their sales, and consumers were deciding not to purchase pork products due to the high price. Carley and Taylor’s presentation suggested a plan to better the production while keeping the consumers happy. Carley and Taylor placed first in their age division in the social systems category, and won the FFA social systems category. They will continue to conduct research and submit their additional findings to the National FFA board in hopes of advancing to the National FFA Convention this fall.
