At last night’s Board of Education work session, three CCA High School students shared their powerful experiences with job shadows and internships. They spoke about how job shadowing gave them valuable insight into their career interests — helping them discover what they enjoy and what paths they might want to explore further.
Their job shadows led to hands-on internships, giving students even deeper, real-world learning experiences.
- Emma Oberg completed her job shadows and internship at Bright Eyes & Bushy Tails as a Veterinary Technician. Emma is going to Kirkwood Community College to pursue a Veterinary Technician career.
- Jaival Rana held job shadows and an internship at IRT Services as a Social Media Intern. He would eventually go to college for business or engineering.
- Conner Duncan completed his internship over spring break with Ackerman Plumbing in Williamsburg as a Plumbing Intern. He will work there this summer and is interested in an apprenticeship after further training and education.
In the 2024–25 school year, 188 CCA students have completed a job shadow — a huge increase from just 22 students in 2022!
We’re so proud of these students for taking steps toward their futures and grateful for the community partners who help make these opportunities possible.
