Principal Fox Receives Iowa Bandmasters Award

Principal Brad Fox Selected for an Outstanding Administrator Award by The Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA)

The Iowa Bandmasters Association annually selects three (3) administrators nominated by member band directors to receive an Outstanding Administrator Award.  These administrators exhibit leadership traits that support the growth and success of the band programs, students, directors, and school communities.  One (1) administrator is selected at the Middle School, High School, and Superintendent levels.  The nominations are submitted to and selected by the IBA Public Relations Committee.

Brad Fox, principal at Clear Creek Amana Middle School in Tiffin, Iowa, is the recipient of the 2020 Middle School Outstanding Administrator Award.  Mr. Fox has been principal of the Clear Creek Amana Middle School since 2005.  He has previously served as assistant principal and At-Risk Coordinator in the Clear Creek Community School District.  Mr. Fox was nominated by Elise van Holsteijn, 6th and 7th grade band director at Clear Creek Amana Middle School.  Per Ms. Holsteijn’s nomination, “Mr. Fox creates a culture that allows our band program to be exemplary by displaying its importance to our school and community. His leadership in this regard has helped build a great respect for our band students and programs.”

“At Clear Creek Amana, our music program is not only really important, but it's also very successful. As an educator for many years, I have observed how students involved in music education also show success in the classroom. Many of our top students academically are also actively involved in music. Students learn so many valuable lessons in music that carry over to life. Life lessons such as learning to work as a team, showing dedication to not only an individual goal but to a team goal as well, and learning how to present and perform for an audience. At CCA our 5th graders get to experience Pat Flaherty. Pat is one of the most kind and encouraging educators I have ever worked with. In 6th and 7th grade our students are in the caring hands of Elise van Holsteijn. Elise is a kind and driven educator that has grown our 6th and 7th grade bands immensely in her short time at CCA. Stephanie Williamson leads our 8th grade band and assists with our high school program. Stephanie is the glue that holds our middle and high school bands together. She's driven and expects the best from all of our students. At the high school level we have the best leader I have ever been around. John Smith creates an atmosphere that guides our entire program. He's a great mentor and a tireless worker. It's not surprising that our high school band is one of the best in the State! Above all, what I see is that the students at Clear Creek Amana love band and it is very important to them and their school experience.” Brad Fox.

Mr. Fox will be recognized with his award virtually at the 93rd Annual Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference  later this month and in the IBA Magazine summer edition.
