Return to Learn Message

June 19, 2020

TO:  CCA Families

Parents:

This school year was unlike any other, and as you take the time to enjoy summer, we want to preview for you our district’s plans to support the health, safety and learning for your students.

The Clear Creek Amana Community School District wants you to know that all the decision-making at the district and building levels is rooted in our interest in the health and safety of our staff and students. These are challenging times for all of us, and this message is intended to help you understand how our focus on safety will be woven into our plans for the upcoming 2020-21 school year.

There are many unknowns about how the public health landscape will look in a few months, and your teachers and administrators are hard at work to plan for those unknowns.

First, we want you to know that we will be back this fall with school starting August 24, but we also want you to know that there is a possibility that the school day may look much different for our students. We were pleased with over 1,000 responses received from the CCA Parent Return to Learn Survey; 76.6% of the parents want to see their child(ren) come back to school and the balance said maybe at 22.4% and 1 no. Your participation in answering the survey is helpful information for the work on the Return To Learn plans.

We are preparing plans to continue in a face-to-face learning environment, but we’re also preparing for a school day that may include a mixture of kids in classrooms and kids learning at home. Our new school day might include shifts of students so we’re able to socially distance our teachers and students. We might also have a plan to support remote student learning if it is determined that due to safety, no one is able to access our buildings.

We are carefully preparing for each of these learning scenarios, and each of our plans is focused on how we can best support our students, our staff and our families during these challenging times. We plan to share details of those plans with you when we are able to, most likely in August, but we invite you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns as well.

Regards,
Superintendent
