IOWA HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATER AWARDS ANNOUNCEMENT!

Clear Creek Amana Spring Production of “Cinderella” has been recognized for these awards:

Award #1 - Production Award for Distinguished Scene - “The Prince is Giving a Ball”

The judges said “you made the audience feel like we too were invited to the ball.  The enthusiasm was infectious!” 

Award #2 - Production Award for Outstanding Ensemble

The judges said “what fantastic dancing that was clean and together! The ballroom scene was to die for! You sang well and harmonized beautifully.” 

Award #3 - Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role - Lily Schloss as “Marie”

Lily has qualified to participate in the 2023 Triple Threat program where she will be able to audition for multiple competitive opportunities.  She will also perform in a medley of songs with all the other Triple Threat nominees at the IHSMTA showcase. The judges said “your vocals were captivating, stunning and beautiful as the Fairy Godmother.”

Award #4 - Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role - Natalie Stewart as “Ella”

The judges said “you had a clear, beautiful tone and great stage presence. You were wonderful in your role as Cinderella.”

Award #5 - Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role - Audrey Bell as “Gabrielle”

The judges said “loved your compassion that you demonstrated with your stepsister’s character.  Your voice, both singing and speaking, were strong and very well done.”

Award #6 - Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role - Charlotte Watson as “Charlotte”

The judges said “when it came time for your character to shine, you brightened up the entire room!  Your character as the stepsister was hilarious and had good use of comedic timing.”

The IHSMTA Showcase will be June 1 at 7:00pm at the Des Moines Civic Center. These students will be performing at the showcase:  Lily Schloss, Natalie Stewart and Audrey Bell.  Tickets go on sale May 12. The showcase will be live-streamed at Iptv.org as part of a collaboration with Iowa Public Television. IPTV will air highlights later this summer.
