CCA Enters Week 12 of School
Year to Date District COVID Numbers

With our 12th week of school ahead, we wanted to give you a recap of our year to date total positive COVID numbers and their impact on our total quarantine numbers.  While we have not had any confirmed positive cases transmitted at school we can’t rule out the possibility of transmission at a school activity. At this time, all CCA School Buildings have been impacted by students and/or staff positive COVID case(s) and quarantines. We are confident our mitigation and quarantine process has helped to slow the spread and keep our students and staff in school.

The following is a snapshot of our year to date COVID totals.

Total District-wide student/staff positive COVID Cases = 36

The numbers above are based on a total student/staff count of 3,320 (CCA total PK-12 student enrollment is 2,815 and there are 505 district-wide employees).

On August 28, the CCA School Board of Education approved Superintendent Kuehl to apply for a virtual waiver at the building and/or district level if both criteria of the State of Iowa were met. The criteria is 15% or greater positivity rate at the County level and 10% or higher absentee rate at the school building or district level.

The district tracks the positivity rates for Iowa and Johnson County along with our daily absentee numbers. The State does not consider quarantined students absent and therefore we cannot count them in our absentee percentages as recorded. The highest absence percentage CCA has had since school started is 2.3%. The link to this information can be found on our website:  CCA Absence Reporting During COVID-19
