Positive Case of COVID-19 in Clear Creek Amana High School

(Tiffin, IA) - Clear Creek Amana Community School District cancelled in-person instruction at the CCA High School last night due to a positive case reported to school officials late Wednesday night. Immediate action was taken to move the High School to virtual learning due to the  extenuating circumstances surrounding the case. We are aware there was a large gathering Saturday night, which had many CCA students in attendance and potentially increased their risk of exposure.  CCA officials await further guidance from Johnson County Public Health, but school districts have the authority to move to virtual learning for up to 48 hours while conducting contact tracing.

The student was in school Monday and all mitigation strategies were followed correctly at school.  Initial discussion  with Johnson County Public Health has confirmed that students and staff would not be considered “close contacts” based on the environment and mitigation strategies being utilized at the High School. 

CCA is asking parents to speak to their child(ren) and ask if they were at this gathering and if they are displaying any symptoms. Contact the CCA Health Director for questions or to report any concerns at kathycampbell@ccaschools.org and see your health physician.

The closure of school and activities today is a direct result of the choices students are making and we encourage families to recognize the unfortunate outcome and how it affects everyone. CCA will be making a decision about school Friday and communicating with families by the end of the day on Thursday.
