CCA Board of Education Names new 4/5 Elementary

On October 17, 2018 the Clear Creek Amana Board of Education approved Oak Hill Elementary as the new name for the grades 4 & 5 Elementary currently under construction. Oak Hill Elementary is located just North of Tiffin Elementary off Park Road in Tiffin.

In September 2017, community members voted to approve the $36 million general obligation bond referendum for construction of a new grades 4 & 5 elementary and for other improvements around the Clear Creek Amana School District. Oak Hill is scheduled to be open for the 2019-2020 school year. This new elementary will relieve space issues for North Bend Elementary and Tiffin Elementary by consolidating grades 4 & 5 to the new Oak Hill Elementary. North Bend and Tiffin Elementary will be Pre-K through 3 starting in the 2019-2020 school year.

Brian Williams, current Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the CCA School District was hired as principal for Oak Hill.  Williams will transition into the principal position later this school year and will hire staff for the Oak Hill building.

In 1912 Oak Hill School was one of six identified rural schools in the Clear Creek Township. The one room school house was located one mile west of Tiffin and remained open until consolidations started in the late 1950’s. During that time, Tiffin, Cosgrove and the Oxford School all consolidated with rural schools in Clear Creek, Oxford and Madison Townships. In 1962 the Iowa General Assembly ordered all rural schools to consolidate or close within five years.
