Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction/District

I grew up in:
I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Family:
I have two children- my daughter Chrissie who is 20 years old, my son Braden who is 18 and a senior at CR Kennedy, and three dogs; Addison and Miley (labs- yellow and black) and Ozzie the baby (1 year old goldendoodle).  My finance’s name is Cory and he owns his own construction business. 

Education:
I earned my undergraduate degree from University of Northern Iowa in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading.  I have a masters degree from Coe College in Teaching and English/Language arts.  I earned my Administration masters at Drake College in Des Moines, IA. 

What makes you CCA Proud?
I have been a Clipper for the last year and ½ and am very proud of the teaching staff I get to work with.  The great things going on in classrooms with students is my favorite part of our district. 

What was your first job?
I was the Easter Bunny at Peck’s Flower and Garden Center in Cedar Rapids. 

What’s your favorite family tradition?
On your birthday, you get breakfast in bed and a handful of written clues to help you find your hidden birthday gifts. 

Do you collect anything?
I love collecting can koozies (aka- Huggers) from places I visit. 

What’s your favorite quote?
I love so many quotes!  Right now, my favorite is “Be stubborn about your goals, and flexible about your methods.”

What are your favorite games to play?
I love playing cards- Euchre and Spoons- depending on the company:)  Outdoor games- water skiing or singing in a boat
