Preschool Program

  • For the 2023-2024 school year, the first day of preschool is Thursday, August 24, 2023, for both morning and afternoon sessions. Preschool runs only on full school days.  In the event a day is shortened, weather delays, etc. Preschool will be canceled.

CCA is still taking preschool enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Clear Creek Amana school district is committed to providing a high-quality preschool experience. We offer a morning or afternoon preschool class with the same curriculum, complete with assessment protocols, snacks, and large and small motor development. Preschool is available at four elementary sites on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (no Wednesdays). Students enrolled in morning classes will be in school from 7:50 - 10:50 AM and students enrolled in afternoon classes will be in class from 11:40 AM - 2:40 PM. Due to space constraints, there are no guarantees of preferred morning or afternoon placement. Requests for a specific building and morning or afternoon sessions will be reviewed by building administrators. Class sections (morning or afternoon sessions) will be completed and communicated later in the spring.

Fees:  There will be no charge for qualifying students. To qualify for FREE preschool, a student must be age 4 on or before September 15th.  Preschool is free through Iowa's Voluntary Preschool Grant and there are no requirements for residency or income. Curriculum guidelines and assessment procedures will be the same for both morning and for afternoon classes. Students who are eligible for kindergarten but who wish to enroll in preschool will need to contact the building principal for prior approval and fee information.

Transportation: Students have the option for bus transportation to and from designated neighborhood stops, homes and, to the best of our ability, to currently licensed daycares operating within our district. Per state requirements, CCA schools are not permitted to bus outside of our school boundaries. Bus stops and routes will be determined in late summer. Specific questions can be directed to the transportation department.

Out of district families: In-district families will have priority for enrollment. Out of district families are welcome to register for preschool but Kindergarten through 12th grade students need to follow all open enrollment policies outlined by the School Board. If you live in Johnson County, follow the instructions with this School Finder tool to find the attendance center your child will be assigned to for Kindergarten. If you live in Iowa County, please use this link for Iowa County boundary information.

Clear Creek Amana schools partners with Sprout Kids Academy in Tiffin, to provide an offsite preschool. If you would like additional information, please contact Sprout Kids Academy directly. Registration, curriculum guidelines, and assessment procedures will be the same for both AM and for PM classes at school-based and partner-based centers.

UPDATE:  The Clipper Early Childhood Academy is delayed for the 2023-2024 School Year and will Open for the 2024-2025 School Year. Families at North Bend Elementary and Tiffin Elementary will still have the same Preschool programs currently offered for the school year 2023-2024.
